Job Details:

In addition to any specific job location/customer requirements all Engineering Managers will have the following responsibilities: 

Use the ACE operating system for all job requirements. 
Achieve internal and external technical customer satisfaction, measured by MFA and other metrics. 
Promote an ethics-based business culture in his/her organization consistent with our Code of Ethics. 

Actively support the organizations efforts to meet or exceed goals and plans and comply with the policy and applicable regulatory and company regulations. 
Actively support the organizations diversity goals and objectives, including experienced and college recruiting. 
Provide staffing plans through the use of TIGER, including detailed plans through all disciplines and an outsourcing plan, also by discipline, which meet project milestones and budget. Integrate low cost engineering into all staffing plans. Utilizing offshore engineering where contracts allow. Develop strong working relationships with offshore and local outsourcing, aimed at creating a strategic vision for engineering excellence. 

Exhibit the leadership skills required to drive success and train, and mentor, the less experienced staff. 
Provide timely and effective communications to senior management, staff and customers with travel time identified at 30%. 
Assist the Production Organization and GM/Program Office to meet development, Production and Producibility milestones for their projects. 

Work with the Engineering leadership team to continue building a world class Engineering Organization for Fuel Controls. 

The position is in the Hydro-Mechanical Design group of Engine and Control Systems and is primarily responsible for the leadership of detailed mechanical design of engine fuel controls and related hardware. Hardware includes fuel metering units and fuel driven actuators. Responsibilities include the detail design and analysis of fuel valves and related components. Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of analysis/calculations of loads, flows, pressure drop, material selections, and stress. Requires working in an leading an IPD environment along with Mechanical Systems, Drafting, and Manufacturing to ensure designs are compliant, producible and cost effective. UG modeling tools will be utilized for creating proposal concepts, design definition, and manufacturing drawings. This position will be responsible for driving technical and cost excellence in the fuel control product line. 

Help drive the new business activities, providing strategic leadership for NRE and recurring, focusing on product cost reduction and market strategy to assist new business managers 
Manage the plant site financial budget for all engineering, program management, and contracts staff in Connecticut. Manage the financial budget for core engineering only in Windsor Locks. The budget includes capital, indirect, travel, computer expenses, and all other pertinent expenses. 

Possess the skills and demonstrate the capability to work across organizational boundaries and manage staff in many geographical locations. 
Develop strategic plans for the fuel control products of APECS. Focus on engineering excellence and competitiveness. Develop product line and technology strategic vision and execution.
